CHECK OUT THE SIZE OF THIS PINECONE
We arrived at St. Andrew around 11:30 am and were given a site across from the bay. Since we are both picky, picky, picky about the site we are in we chose a different site and returned to registration to make the change. Of course that site was booked for tonight so off we went to check out other possible sites on the water. Finally we secured site 116 right on the bay. After three trips back to registration we settled in at 1:30 PM.
CAMPSITE # 116
TURPENTINE STILL
Later we toured the park and stopped at the turpentine mill that was moved from its original site several miles away. At one point in time Florida was the largest producer of turpentine in the country.
PANAMA CITY BEACH
We drove into Panama City Beach and looked around. It's a typical seaside resort town. Fortunately we are here in the shoulder season so there is little to no activity. We're told that it is wild and crazy here during Spring Break in March.Ron has been talking about pecan waffles since we left on this trip so we we stopped at the Waffle House and enjoyed very delicious pecan waffles.
We are slowly working our way to Pensacola 40-50 miles at a time. Ron wants to stop at all the state ocean front CG's along the way. Each is quite beautiful and different.
Tomorrow we will enjoy the area and do some hiking along the bay.
