Drive and Sleep Saturday 01/15/2011 Day (2)

At around 6:30 am and almost 200 miles later we stopped at a rest area in Virginia to catch a nap. The batteries were fully charged and our heat was working well. We decided we would take a short nap then head out again before the heavy traffic merged. Well, that didn’t work because we slept for two hours.

Once again back on the road we ran into some significant traffic slow-downs just north of Fredericksburg VA.  Other then the wall to wall cars there didn’t appear to be a good reason for the traffic to be moving at 20 mph. Later we found out that this is common on holiday weekends because everyone is going shopping at the outlet centers. Hello!!!!  Hasn’t everyone gotten their shopping needs satisfied with Christmas???

As we drove further south the temp was gradually rising and our snow and ice packed roof began melting. The good/bad news is that the snow and ice were slowly melting but also flying off the roof as we drove at 70 mph.

This is what remains currently on the roof even after driving 600 + miles at 70 MPH at times and the temp getting up to 53 degrees.

Ron wanted to watch the play-off games so we stopped in Emporia, VA at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park, 17 miles North of North Carolina. The temp was 51 degrees, YEAH and although a lot of the ice on the roof was gone there was still areas on the roof that had not been affected. Hopefully, if the weather  stays warm the rest of the ice will melt and we can get the MH and car washed at a truck wash.

After settlingIMG_8124 in at the CG we were quick to take advantage of having full hook-ups opening the slides and getting the rest of our stuff unpacked. Then it was nice hot showers and a good dinner. Ron watched the games while I read.

A good day despite the odd sleep pattern. We drove twice as far today in less time. We will be at Jellystone until Monday. Will be watching the Patriots game as well as the Seahawks. Go Patriots!!!!!! Oh Yeah, and Hawks our West Coast Family’s team!!
