Well, we finally moved today. As usual we did not get an early start and left the CG around 10 am. It was a short but scenic ride to Grayton SP (33 miles). The sun was shining and the temps in the mid fifties. Just perfect but not for swimming. Definitely better then the snow and cold at home.
Wrapping up at St.Andrews FL SP
Arrive Grayton SP FL site # (40)
We arrived a Grayton SP and did our usual search for the perfect site. Since I wanted full hook-ups so I could do the laundry a site on the lake was not an option. Grayton SP is very nice and located right on the Gulf.
FULL HOOKUPS
HIKE ON THE BEACH
When we were settled in we had lunch then took a ride into a planned community called “Watercolors” located right on the Gulf. What a beautiful place with magnificent houses and rental properties. Ron and I thought this would be a great place for a family Christmas get away. How silly of us. Renting a place for one week for 12 people cost $6,600.00. A little too steep – since this does not include airfare, transportation and food. Nice idea though.
Later we headed to the beach and hiked the trail through the dunes along the Gulf that was beautiful. We enjoyed the 40 minute hike and views. The weather was expected to deteriorate quickly so a walk was mandatory before the rain set in.
Back at the CG we cooked shish-ka-bob on the grille and enjoyed a very tasty meal. While we were eating, a torrential rain came down for about five minutes then stopped. Later there were tornado warnings from Apalachicola to Pensacola with us smack in the middle. The thunder and lighting was tremendous and Jewel, who usually is not afraid of storms was afraid.
Tomorrow we will tour the area and if the weather clears we will take another hike.
